About Me

A journalist with experience reporting for national titles, most recently for Metro and The London Economic, I thrive chasing exclusive stories and interviews. I have written articles for print and online on a range of topics, from international and British politics to human interest stories. I am studying to achieve a gold standard NCTJ with News Associates by January 2025, learning shorthand, media law, SEO techniques and multimedia journalism.

“[Luke Alsford’s journalism] sticks to the key principle of our industry - to tell stories of those who can’t always speak for themselves, and to tell them with dignity.” These generous words from David Chipakupaku of Sky News showcase exactly what drives me as a young reporter.

While studying History and German at Durham University, I was News Editor of Palatinate newspaper, working on investigative and feature pieces on community interest stories. I have also conducted German-language reporting when I was on a year abroad in Germany.

As an LGBTQ+ journalist, I am a passionate believer in inclusive newsrooms and work environments and I was also president of the social mobility society the 93% Club Durham.
